About the Phlebotomy Program

The Phlebotomy Program at ABO Phlebotomy School is an approved program.

 

The Program consists of 40 hours of didactic, national exam, and 40 hours clinical.

Students are eligible to sit for the phlebotomy technician national exam after completion of 40 hours classroom instruction, which are 10 class meets.

 

Thereafter, students will placed into clinical matriculation to complete 40 hours.

Requirements in clinical are 50 SUCCESSFUL venipunctures & 10 capillary sticks.

At the end of the program graduates will become licensed as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I).

Phlebotomy Program

The Phlebotomy Technician program is designed to help students acquire the practical knowledge and the specialized skill needed to draw blood from patients as an entry-level phlebotomist. Upon completion of the program and the required externship, students may take the Phlebotomy Certification exam through the National Health-career Association (NHA) or the National Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam(NCPT), through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Students who pass the exam may apply for state licensure CPT1 through the California Department of Public Health Laboratory FieldServices.

ABO Phlebotomy School offers an approved phlebotomy program for students looking to gain valuable and affordable education. Seeking to assist those in underserved communities who may be out of reach from a nearby school. Whether your goal is securing licensure as a medical professional in phlebotomy, looking for a new career in the medical field, or obtaining valuable experience in the medical field while attending higher education, whichever your reason may be, we hope to be the reason to get you there.

 

Phlebotomy licensure and experience is valuable to a lot of other disciplines within the medical field such as:

 How to prepare for class and graduate?

-Show up to every class

WHAT TO EXPECT?

A trained, licensed, and experienced phlebotomist or nurse will guide you through the entire phlebotomy program and prepare you for the national examination.

 

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS

The applicant or student should be at least 18 years or older and have all appropriate medical documents ready at hand regarding vaccinations. Also, it is important to have a state I.D. license or a driver's license to verify your identity and copy of your high school diploma. In the absence of a high school diploma passing the following tests will suffice:

  • General Education Development (GED)

  • High school equivalency (HiSET)

  • California high school proficiency examination (CHSPE)

  • Or official transcripts from higher education depicting credit for general education courses completed.
